OK so it's a bit late in coming, but I got bored of waiting for someone else to start the thread.

+ Actually digging stuff up!
+ Fleshy bits buried in the sand!
+ The weather
+ Jess's nifty work on the gate

- Leaving a dirty bomb in a prime spot to be shot lots
- Losing the Brig
- Losing Flash
- Not stopping the nice locals from being BBQd by nukes.

(will add more as I think of them)

hot : Quality of props
not: talk through missions as opposed to talky missions, didn't like ref'ing them, didn't like playing them.
hot: sand dune mission
not: some of the crew not knowing the rules system
hot: quality of plot
not: players not knowing the system rules. (more of us should be dead...)
hot: angsty roleplay
not: players dropping ooc in the middle of the IC area and talking about a different larp system.
hot: an energetic and hard working crew
not: I dont tend to ignore plot anyway and had an amazing time, but I get the impression that some of the quieter players dont tend to get included as much.
hot: nigel providing the gennie
not: I think more of the site could have been used
hot: a good all round balanced use of most of the skills in the game.

Overall I would rate the event. my first as a player as very hot though. Smile

Absolutely scorching - The request made of me by a certain other player.
Hot - The response to funding generator fuel. Massive thanks to all who contributed/helped fetching & carrying.
Hot - Mini MALP
Hot - Having enough crew to run us ragged.
Hot - Being a lot fitter than recent games
Hot - Seeing Dave, get fully fit soon, man.
Hot - Site improvements
Hot - Refurbished trailer
Hot - Plot
Hot - The Deimos

Not - Not really a not but the gentlest of hints. Fuel for the w/e works out at less than a pound each if everyone chips in. A few people contributed a lot more than that this time.
Not - New crew not always remembering the hand in the air (forgivable) it was great to have you.
Not - Raids on tents. Less forgiveable, it should have been common sense but I trust it won't happen again.
Not - Smashing the new trailer jockey wheel on a speed bump.
Not - Losing established characters,
Not - Sand in everything. How come there's still sand at Candleston? The whole damn site poured out of my trailer when I opened it!

It's taken me a while to write this, mainly because I've been forced to recognise the difference between a good event for me personally and a good event in kind of absolute terms.

That's made me think about what is appropriate for me to raise here, and what isn't. For example, I think "Hot: The props were awesome, particularly Billy the Worm" is, but "Not:  People were acting in a way I didn't like" isn't. I only say that because I know the people who put huge amounts of effort into these events take Hot or Not very, very seriously. So I've decided to theme my replies to Event/IC/OOC. Si, you should ignore anything other than the Event heading  Very Happy .

Anyway, if anyone is still reading, the results of the minority Bristol jury are as follows:

Event

Hot: The propping. First class, and added a degree of interaction we haven't seen since "babies in green jelly".

Not: The fragmented arrival from the Deimos.  Probably a great idea, but made the cat herding of being in command even harder than usual.

Hot: The crewing. It was fantastic to have so many enthusiastic crew keeping proceedings lively. Thank you all.

Not: Yeah, I'm out of not for events.

Hot: The brilliantly responsive reffing. You guys rock.

Not: See above.

Hot: The general pace of the event.

Not: ...

Hot: The cooperative spirit between ref team, crew and players. Well done Si on fostering such a positive environment.

IC

Hot: Getting possessed by a symbiote. Loads of fun.

Not: Having the same five people cover guard duty over and over.

Hot: Getting to role play a goa'uld, particularly when being "interrogated" by the so called good guys.

Not: Feeling railroaded by "effects" of previous events.

Hot: The heroics and brilliant brainwork of many characters, particularly Jess and Sophie.

OOC

Hot: Seeing so much good role play, particularly by new players.

Not: Being out of it for much of the event due to my own stupid IC actions.

Hot: Keogh's character. Who would have thought he could actually role play?  Very Happy

Not: Having major events take place completely outside player control (The Brig's mysterious "disappearance/MIA" specifcally).

Hot: Ross being elected System Ref.

Not: nope, that's it.

Hot: Name me famous. A classic instance, in particular Si's "persona" as chairman, Broz's refusal to answer anything other than "Verity" and Debs' Madame.

That's about it. Can't wait for the next one.

Leon.
