Support weaponsI've had it in mind for some time to build more medium/heavy machine guns like the M60. I've got some good drawings for the M2HB & it looks quite easy to build but the finished prop will be bulky to transport, prop ammo is ridiculously expensive for it & it's not really appropriate for the scenario unless we're in an established fixed base.
A much more appropriate weapon which is smaller, more in keeping & I already have loads of prop ammo for would be a Gimpy but it looks much harder to build. Does anybody have good drawings of one (scale would be nice) or links to sites with such or good his res pictures?

The gun is relatively easy to build. I just can't afford inert .50 cal rounds To make it look right.

It's electronically fired, hence can be jammed/EMPed or I'd have done one by now

they surely cant jam it if your using the console rather than a remote link?
also it must be emp shielded, being military spec kit et al?

that may be but remeber we are dealing with alien kit, so emp shielding on military equipment may not be up to it
as for metal storm its good concept an applicable if mounted on a large vehicle or ship, but can you image carrying the reloads, bullets and barrel times how many in a box
carrying a normal weapon plus ammo is heavy enough

OK guys, not going to build a metalstorm. Can I drag this back on topic & repeat, anybody got any good scale/exploded drawings/photos of a GPMG or the base weapons, the FN MAG.

The Gimpy is beginning to look more possible. The most difficult shape to reproduce is the pistol grip & trigger group. It is very similar to the old P08 Luger. Has anybody got a couple. I remember they were made as diecast or plastic models. Broken ones would be good as I imagine one in decent condition is probably collectable. Failing that, anything with a similar raked back grip. I've got cheepo plastic 1911s as a fall back, but they're far too "upright" really.

Im getting a GPMG kit, and if its easyer for you to take a mould from a complete gun you are welcome to borrow it once I'v got the complete thing in my mitts.
