Spray Fire and covering fire.

Right people seem to like (tolerate, hate them less than the current gun rules) the suggestions with new gun rules I have suggested. they are not great but they are a compromise between the different parties.

Right Covering Fire, should we up the amount of bullets it uses?

Spray fire? Should we up the amount of bullets it uses?

Spray Fire? Should this no longer be a call of desperation and swapped over to a similiar method of use such as covering fire?

Large (machine) Weapons and clip size, shall we up them in size and make it offical in the rules?

What do people think are sensible amounts for large (machine) as it would stand? 50, 80, 100, 100+ etc

After all most of them are belt fed, drum fed etc...
Broz

Never really got that "call of desparation" thing.  It's very powerful, but totally indescriminate, which makes good sense. We've started to get a pretty good set of drills going so if the guy with the bit gun moves forward, everyone else drops back fifty feet. If any one is silly enough to let rip through a group of his own ppl, well...there we go..

Realistic ammo amounts for an LMG would be 100 rounds (ok all the box mags any of us with LMGs have are 200, but there needs to be a limit.)
MajorMasters

Box mags should be 100 - 200 rounds and spray fire is not a call of desperation its a tactical option.  However I think it should be refined a little so that the firer needs to be in a braced or prone position,  spray fire from the hip is a bit unbelievable

Works in the movies and in TV Shows like ... Stargate
Do we want realistic or cinematic?

cinematic. Very Happy
MajorMasters

Actually cinematic you are correct Smile

i used spray fire to keep the heads of the enemy down on the tunnel missions and when using the large mg on the last one

it's not a continuse firing, it represents a few well placed shots to put peoples heads down. It's supresive fire.

If we use the correct tactics then low and behold we reduce the number of casualties we suffer and stop the enemy moving.

pistols are personal protection and used for close up work. (as when we did the south american death squad thing in the tunnels :O) ideal range 10 meters or less

SMG: is a close in wepon that has supressive fire capability: ideal range 30 meters of less

Assault riffles/medium rifles: the 5.56 round was designed to engage an enemy at around 100-300 meters. (The 7.62 reaching out to 500-1000 meters was thought to much as most combats are at 300 meters or less. If you look at the iron sights on most rifles they go out to 300 meter max)

Medium MG's: those using 5.56.. same as above.. but just allows a few people to put supressive fire down so that the rest of the platoon can manover onto the target and eliminate it at closer quarters.

Heavy MGs: 7.63 or .50 cal: are used to really mallet the fuck out of people behind cover, light veichles, trenches etc. They are heavy, crew served, not 1 man usually 2-5, and eat ammo like no tomorrow.

Sniper rifles snipe and keep peoples head down with close shots.

jsut my opinion how the weapons should be used.

or if you dont beleive me watch the stuff coming out of iraq and afghanistan

also our standard wepon load out is shit.  2 pistol asnd 3-4 medium mags.
way to low
Doc Benton

a standar lode out for mr inf solder on the groud is

6 mags 5.56 for self (med)
2 to 4 mags (or 200 belt) for suport weapons
2 hand granades.
a slck hand full of taracer rounds.
an badolear of 150 with mag charger to refill empy mags when in fire suport.
then you have the ant-tank morters (and bombs)

thats the by the book

the reality is "ANEYTHING AND EVERY THING  YOU CAN BLOODY CARRY"

WHY so much ?

its down to rates of fire the stanader weapons (sa80 now sa80a2) is one round every 6 sec (to alow for marksman ship you know crap like aiming)
that meen for every 3 min of fire you use one mag.

rapid fire is one round every 3 sec
assulat/fight thrue is what ever it takes to kill them.

some fire fights have been know to last days ... to win the fire fight and thats even be for the advance asualt and fight thrue.

so yes i think that 3  to 4 mags is far to little for fruntline skalls how ever if we stared carry that much well even with wood ones we will have a hell of a lot more to runabout with ...

so i think somthing mre like 6 mags for med and pistol is fine with 2 (thats standared for ofcers side arms)

just my thorts .

The only real implication for increasing the availbility of ammo is balance.  At the moment ammunition is used as a consumable resource in the game scenario in order to give the players a weakness.  Reducing or removing that weakness makes the player group more powerful, hence an increased threat will be necessary to challenge them.

If event organisers and mission writers are happy with that consequence, then it's safe to make the change, if that's what the players want.

Just remember, if you have more rounds, then we have to put in enemies that take more rounds to kill. Smile
