Resignation and invitations for nominations for Secretary.

Hello all

Due to a change in personal circumstances I am unable to continue in my role as secretary, so unfortunately am announcing my resignation as I will not be able to give the role the time and concentration it deserves..

So, it's election time.

Now according to the constitution the process should take 4 weeks, but it's just under three to the next event and that would be the best and easiest place to do it, rather than by email or post afterwards.  So, unless anyone has any objections, I will suggest that nominations open now, close on Wednesday the 9th September, thus leaving the candidates until the 17th to state their case.

The role of the secretary is as below -

iii) The Secretary shall:
• Be responsible for the administration of all matters relating to membership and subscription, and relevant liaison with the Treasurer;
• Be responsible for all society correspondence and administration;
• Take minutes at meetings, and circulate agendas and minutes of meetings to the membership;
• Act as returning officer for all society polls, votes and ballots (Should this officer be a candidate in any election then another officer may be appointed acting returning officer by the executive for the duration of that election).
• Attend general meetings of the society.


As before, there must be a nominator and secondee for the role, with their names and email addresses so I can verify this.

Well as per my previous post we have received one nomination, for Gail Murthwaite-Price. As there were no other nominees then as before, there will be a vote, for and against.

Could folks please pm me with their votes for/against/abstaining Gail Murthwaite-Price becoming our secretary.  Those of you who have already spoken to me have had your votes recorded already so do not need to vote again.

I will close voting on Friday 25th September at 10pm and announce the result the following day.
