Props CatalogueI know this may be a ball ache but I'm putting the idea out there.
Transporting props for a game such as hours is a major task with the gate, DHD, Jaffa kit etc but I was wondering how many times stuff was taken that wasn't actually needed, and just ended up being carted back again.
Maybe, if someone is willing, the props could be catalogued (maybe photographed for smaller or costume related items) and a list is then made available to event organisers as to what is there. A photobucket account can be set up with the photo's if required.
The idea is then that the organisers can only request what they actually need, thus saving space and weight and therefore petrol of the brave souls who cart our stuff about.
Is this workable?

Something like this:
SG Props List
Computers
Medical laptop: I have a laptop loaded with Harrisons Principles of internal medicine, War surgery, survival, including emergency medical information, native plant uses, Merriam Websters medical dictionary etc.
EEG/ECG machine: A dummy box with lots of medical electrodes that can be used to “monitor” a patient. It makes no actual connection to the computer, nor is there any electrical contact with the patient, i.e. it’s safe. There is some software on the PC to give appropriate displays.
BP/pulse rate monitor: A self contained real working unit.
Engineering/science Laptop: With various technical software inc. star mapping on it.
Widgets: A variety of gadgets like the “Naquadah detector” that plug into the parallel port of a computer. They make no electrical connection & cannot pass an electrical current, i.e. they’re safe.
Gate Laptop: Has Martin’s (or possibly Tom Roostan’s) gate software loaded..
All computers are old, not quick, & possibly temperamental. Ability to run laptops from batteries should not be relied upon. If the PC were any higher spec, I couldn’t afford to bring them. In any case, genuine crashes have given some good role playing moments.
(P)ublic (A)ddress system.
Naquadah Generator, The light up ‘dumbell’ physrep
Lighting I have two 500Watt sitelights on two & a half metre stands, with outdoor cabling & 2 lighting festoons (like big fairy lights)
Electronic test instruments, I have all manner of electronic test gear, scopes, oscillators, sound level meter, environment meter components, capacitors & so on that can be used to populate a workshop or science area. Some of it is working test equipment & some inert props like the EEG/ECG machine or the Naquadah detector.
Goa’uld crystals, I’ve got some phys reps of square conical, six sided & eight sided Goa’uld crystals. They’re not good casts but they’re closer to the crystals seen in the series than anything else I’ve come across.
Generator, The generator used by the players at the various events.
Gate wiring & control box:
Portable laser grid: As pictured on Photobucket & the Wiki
‘Shroomheads super computer Plastic skip (‘bout the size of the yellow ones I bring) full of circuit boards with a laptop grafted on top.
Alot of the props can be seen at http://s30.photobucket.com/albums/c330/sm0keyb/Props/

If there are just 2 DHD's could someone fill me in on what happened to the third at the last event. I'm not inclined to make another one this week

It could be in there, Richard. I can definitely see two but there's an awful lot of stuff jammed in the 'van, so it could be buried. I can make a more determined attempt to get further in if you like but if anyone knows if it was definitely loaded it would save me a lot of work. If it went in, it'll still be in there.
EDIT:
Unpanic! There are three! I managed to worm my way in far enough to see the hidden one "around the corner".
