LRP Safe Staff WeaponsA Jaffa(cake) just isn't right unless he can steam into Melee with a staff weapon.
I know that someone said Eldritch and possibly one other maker had been approached to make some but they came in at a ludicrous price.
I've spoken briefly to Wookie and he's given a guestimate (dependant on size and number ordered) of £90 - £100 per staff.
He's even said he'll match them to JDs if we want (dependant on him being able to borrow it to work from obviously)
He also said if we order a few, he should be able to drop the price some.
Sound like something we need to do?

Croydon (dr Bob) was toying with ways of making them lrp safe. I'll hassle him. I dont think we need to go to the extent of carving that JDs staff has to make an adequate lrp safe prop.

There's adequate and there's up to standards of the other stuff we have , like the Stargate.
I think it'd be nice to try to get the staff weapons to the standard of JD's. It looks the part, the carvings really make it.

And a damned fine job you did.
I'm just concerned that without the carving we may lose some of the effect.
Still so long as the staff weapons turn out to be uniform length we should be OK. 
(For reference I'm told JD's staff is 6'2" in length, and has some decent thickness to it too)

i have one too its not as big and shiny as JD's but it did cost a fair bit less about £65 -£70 (i got a whole Jaffa outfit at the same time but havent been able to collect from my supplier yet)

costs varied from £100 to £150 depending on who makes them and we were looking at minimum orders..
though medlock could make 7ft ones.. the only ones to do so

Still shorter than the ones in the shows (9' I think they were), but longer than JD's.

we did a fair bit of research when making them. I think they were the only props we were really unhappy with, but time and budget were against us
