Long time in saying hi. Australian Laser tag Larp

G'day folks.

Not sure who may remember but we have been working towards a goal to run a Stargate LARP in victoria in Australia.

Since we have difference gun regulations we decided to utilize an Open source Laser tag prototcol.

Its taken awhile to get things done but now we are starting to see the fruits of our labour.

Amoungst our group is a person who is looking to become a budding young filmer/director

And there is also some one who is looking to get into professional photography.

We ran this series of events at Melbourne High school during a game convention called Conquest on the Easter weekend.

we also have our own LRP forums located at http://viclrp.org.au/phpBB/index.php

Hi there - I've absolutely no idea who of you are  (but then I'd be worried if you knew who I was either  Wink)  - didn't join up to this site until a couple of months ago after crewing a rather fun game but since I'm actually, by choice, a LRPer that uses Lazer Tag quite extensively (and has for the last 22 years  Shocked ) I'm reaqlly interested in how far you've got with your project and if you're utilising a 'home grown' tag system, Peter Lander's equipment or something that Phil Higgins has knocked up for you here in the UK.

Another useful site for all of this is the www.firefight.org.uk forum where not only so we have extensive experience of running Stargate (and many other genre games) but long standing experience of tricks/traps/props etc. that work specifically with the electronics and cause serious 'panic' amongst the players.

Hopefully here from you in the very near future - always get excited about tagging around the world (really need to get out more Very Happy)

Warmest regards

We have been at this awhile but only this year we have ramped up the construction and rules writing to get events done.

Our gear comes from here http://www.lasertagparts.com/mtdesign.htm

i also frequent a site http://www.laserforums.com/forum/ for more general laser tag chat and such.

and last but not least our our generic LRP forums found at http://viclrp.org.au/phpBB/index.php

Several of my favourite lurking sites there  - I haven't looked on Miles' site for a couple of years good to see it's still going Laughing

Good luck with it, be good to see how it develops and if you can actually convince people that you can use lazertag for anything other than paintless paintball (I know you can, but it's been a common misconception from other system LRPers for so long that we're sick of saying it - perhaps another voice from across the world might lend weight to the argument and get rid of our GUN BUNNY tag  Laughing)

There's some photos of some of the Stargate stuff on Dropzoneonline.org.uk have a look in the past dropzone sections - they're all lurking in there somewhere.

Watches with interest.

Paul

Now back to the Thunderbirds uniforms for next weekend ...
