Feeling my age - againThe danger of following You Tube links.

So what music have you heard lately that makes you feel your years?

Hold on... Mali and You both know this... I know this... and I wouldn't exactly say that we're all ancient.
Meanwhile to add to Dangermouse's list (and no Pink Ladies here) the following were songs of my youth that I remember quite well and have seen them on You Tube recently and went *Grief, was it THAT long ago*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYtdW5bD-7Q (Was playing when I first went to a nightclub in Liverpool)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PP1HEFlkdY (School Disco Moment)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW_hSNHZiBc (Losing my Virginity)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0Mzr_A-Q0I (My first housemate at University used to play this song consistantly until Mark and I took the tape.. TAPE I SAY... of this and had a funeral pyre)
The worst of doing this bloody thing for Simon is this one : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37GrbCUvZEM : which is both a requiem for a very close friend of mine who died the year after it was released and to be honest it reminded me of him for a very long time, and our childhoods that we'd spent together.... plus.... it was the song that I ended up in tears over when I split up with my fiancee a few years later - I still can't listen to the song without thinking back - not as old as the other ones, but still the same feelings.
And not one item from Grease... but for good measure just for Simon.

Some good choices there and some weird tastes.
A mix of some of my vids
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_7Kp_TapA4 - just one that stuck in my mind
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXPUkrz7Uow - one that reminds of a very special girl (long before I met my wife)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wP1w5Hl8D0E - first song I ever played at a gig
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jJWQkVgDs4 - a song me and some friends ripped off for LRPing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FGk63Fv7t4&feature=related - and one that reminds me of youthful lust
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8rNFpr49Nw - and one from my student days listened to it a lot at Uni though it an oldie by then

Who doesn't like a bit of Teenage Dirtbag
Excuse me... STRANGE TASTES... When you have "I Touch Myself"
Well if you're on about the first song you played at a gig... I was a choir boy at school (please - everyone assume any jokes you can do have already been done), the first "gig" I did was at St Paul's Cathedral where we did the Requiem Mass by Mozart, my favourite song from it being : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFq-HHA0k2E
This was therefore I think the first piece of music other than our school song that I'd sung in public. Meanwhile... you think lyrics of songs are bad today... here's my School Song : http://www.merchanttaylors.com/senior-boys/song.html

Can't claim to have seen them in 1935, but has anybody else even heard of them? My old man & I used to listen to them, Glen Miller & Humphrey Littleton, on the Light programme (Radio 2 to the children) & Radio Luxembourg (Who remembers that, as well)

But eventually childish thoughts and music from the days of when I was young leave me as I enter my adult-hood it went from Grease, the Pink Ladies and Don't Fear The Reaper into something which is much more adult :

I like the Who - but pretty much now just know them as "The band who do the CSI theme tune" - since I like Who Are You? and Baba O'Reilly quite a lot (even before CSI)
But coming back to sensible "legendary" songs - like some of the Who Stuff... there is this - which a lot of people prefer the Pet Shop Boys Cover - but the original is still the best
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDkBzkA9L4s
And this is one of the best performances of the song by U2 since the original.

The Who are sublime. Rate them with The Kinks (another pleasure).
