Bolt actionThis is a bit of a follow on from the smg vs snipers thread
I am and have been toying with the idea of bringing a bolt action rifle to an event.
However the rules really don't support this.
It "should" be a medium weapon and on a round for round basis you would expect it to do slightly more damage that your average nato assault rifle (this particular one is .303).
However I cannot see that you can add this catagory without first fixing the single shot damage of the sniper rifle.
Thoughts people?

.303 is a big fucking round, very big, good for shooting fuzzie wuzzies, and fruit throwing natives.
I imagine it would be doing triple. chuck it in the medium fiream skill set, and it has no special. easy.
Oh and I would be looking for slow calls between each damage call , at least two seconds for an enfield, assuming you are firing british style, being a frenchman, we can of course make up rules for thworing it over your shoulder as you flee from the enemy.
That was me being rascist, mostly I hat people though, not of course your self as you drink port and eat fine cheese and case double in amusing swedish accent.

.303 (of an inc)is the same (almost ) as ther standard nato stock 7.62 (mm) so it would be a sniper rifle in essance but with out the ranage.

What about rules for even bigger "Anti Materiale" rifles? Personally I have both a 12.7mm and a 7.62mm Sniper Rifle replica, and even though thier are a 101 reasons not to carry the .50cal, it still feels, for want of a better term more manly. Anyway, back OT, is it worth making extra rules for the likes of the Barrat, Che Tac, and AW50 sniper rifles?
Oh, and .303" is 7.7mm. Now THAT is being pedantic.
Fuzzy Wuzzies etc, and europeans beware, the brits are coming. And we can kill you at half a mile with open sights.

AMRs are something that the setting kind of obviates. We never have the extreme ranges available to us, most of our enemies don't require that kind of wallop (either less or considerably more) and we don't have vehicles to contend with either.
Saying that, I had a friend at uni who went to work for a firm making EOD gear. They had specialist .50 cal rounds for 'long-range bomb disposal' if you will. They also had a Barrett 82 set up in a very long shed for the quality assurance tests.
Now in that role they might well have a use.
IIRC AMRs came about to penetrate cinderblock walls and improvised bunkers and strongpoints. The horrific range was more of a bonus than anything else.
Presumably, the game effect is the same as single shot for a HMG, assuming we have rules for that?

Iv been thinking about this for the last few days. The Tripple through that the sniper rifles give you sounds fair. It is adequete to kill a starting charicter, qnd seriosly inconveniance most others, but any more and it would be too powerful. remember if you died from one shot every time you whent through the gate it would soon take the fun out of it for YOU wouldnt it? So why ask anyone else to put up with you doing that to them? So no, I dont think the rules should be re gigged.
And as for an AMR, they were first designed to be used as a platoon level anti armour weapon. Think of the Boys AT Rifle.
