A few questions really after getting a couple of the books recently.
Who else has it?
Who plays it, and how do you find it?
If you do play it, do you have an SG! based campaign, Atlantis, are really nerdy and have and SEF based game (soooo tempting to run a 'Team Wilson') or a different one entirely?
Final question - Anyone has any books they don't want anymore? I already have the main rule book and the companion books for series 1 & 2, but any of the others, particularly 'False Gods', I would be interested in taking if off your hands in return for cash. _________________ Former CMO..

Hi Debs,
- I Do. as do three other players in my thursday night group.
| Quote: | | Who plays it, and how do you find it? |
- I Do, I also run the game, its good captures the feel and allows plenty of personal scope. The bundle system is an improvement on the original Spycraft. Gear picks are good but in my gaming groups opinion you do not get enough for your picks (offset partially by allowing different Duty/Mission bundles per player). Resource picks are great but you really need the living gods book for the table at the back to make full use of them in designing alien tech (both as a ref and as players).
You need to get the erratta before you play the staff weapon and Zat as listed in the main book are wrong, the Resource points for support teams is misprinted.
Fantastic frontiers (iirc) gives the vehicles and a new base class, the grunt is the best soldier based class.
If your reffing remember to hand out action often (you get one each time as well) makes for better drama moments.
and i usually find it by going to the shelf.

so far i have run campaigns games, and played in another.
SG27 - An exploration team who encountered sumerian godlike beings (way before the stupid ORI plot came out (anubis was the on screen bad guy at the time so season 5), sumerian gods are the annukai, Ann is the leader/sky god and they tie in well with the gilgamesh myth. which is waht the campaign was built around with the Annukai being another offshoot of ancient culture who selected isolation and "nanoware" as their route instead of ascension (going into periods of wraith like, again before the atlantis stuff came out, Hibernation between evolution of life. Then poping up and "judging" the life that existed, passs = live fail=genocide. thus explaining how if the ancients died and humans re-evolved why the hell so many earth type planets dont have thier own native parallel evolution lifeforms.
SG27b - co running with the other one but for a different group, this team went to compete in the Olympics (based on one of Chronus/Zeus worlds) on behalf of Gilgamesh who wanted the prize but could not directly take part.
these two campaign arcs ended with one team asking for SG27b's minds to be erased so they had no memory of the other teams cock up, and the other team asking to for the opposition to be demoted to B and themselves promoted, Gilgamesh then did as asked and Promoted 27B to a and erased them minds of the former 27a.
Dyfed- the current ongoing occasional game that i run is based around Gil giving a enhanced Puddlejumper to the players team and the address and a one time ZPC (zero point cluster - like a ZPM but smaller and one use only) and a 8 digit address to "somewhere he had never set foot" on the grounds that the SGC send the team to go investigate.
(team is USAF officer/pilot, Unity Crystal Explorer, Asgard Scientist, and a pair of Army Recon soldiers) so off they go.
arriving in another galaxy (the Draco galaxy) in a ruined Ancient city ship.
where they find a russian demolitions expert in a ?stasis? tube.
not going to say more as Ryan is one of my players.
And the game i play in routinely on a thursday
RP1 - Russian stargate team.
Yuri Igorovitch* - Oznaz 5th directorate interrogator/troubleshooter
Yusef Rasputin (detached at the moment to Archangel working on ancient plasma satellite from retrieved plans)
Nadia - Army medic/Assassin
Pavlov - Spetznaz Commando (wears a red shirt, never dies)
Titov - Spetznaz Commando/pilot
Sergi - Civillain Drones and Mechanics expert/Expert Driver/pilot/sailor (on detachemnt to construct Ancient personal transport vehicle/drones from retrieved plans)
Talia - Spetznaz Scout/recon
Dimitri Dragunov - Spetznaz sniper (on detachment somewhere in Chetchnya)
Annya - Civillain Hazmat and biohazard specialist/slut/Miss Russian army 2001-2003
Squad of 4 medical mooks - Spetznaz First aid Commandos
(the reason for the size is the US said Russia could have one team, so we have but its HUGE)
currently running clandestine mission from offworld base on Tropicana-ski (tropical islands world populated by Ohnes colony, currently being poisoned by Ashen bioweapons) Having previously located Ancient facility with knowledge repository and killing the tok'ra who were sent to help us against the reetou (long story) then recovering (into peoples minds (yusef and Sergi) some choice ancient blueprints, we are working on setting up the tropicana-ski base as a cover while we move people to the Motherland-ski 2 base. and give the Ashen a kicking while saving the Ohnes.
*(yuri wears Red boxers with the hammer and sickle on them)
hope this helps debs
and no you cant have my books, mine mine mine (although i am missing one) _________________ Logan Bishop |

LOL...
Well although I DON't have red boxers I am one of the Russian team that plays with Dom regularly on a thursday night. And yes it is a large team but OC mainly because not everyone is avaliable to play all the time its currently being run with just 4 of us with occational drop ins from the others as NPC's.
I am not one to unfortunatly quibble over rules discussions so I wont be able to advise on the technical stuff like Dom.
However I can say I have had a fab time playing my character Katya (Nadia) who is a Russian military Doctor. I started off as the med a few levels ago and sence leveling up have gained a few other abilities. Although I have not taken every medical ability/feat in the rules I did find that I had maxed out a bit on what the team required on a regular basis. (I have a first aid role thats 24 before I role the dice) So I decided to expand and become an ASSASIN. (Very long story ask Dom for the details it was mainly his fault...Over shopping...lol)
Anyway my point being that you can have a character that specialise in something very effectively but can still do something else. Which is nice because I find in alot of other systems (where I tend to play the healer on alot of occations) that all you do is one thing and it gets very very boring after a while.

Hmmm...

should read ...
Annya - Civillain Hazmat and biohazard / Slut / Miss Russian army / Bimbo specialist
Well you can tell Nadia doesnt have a very high oppinion of Annya but they get along well enough.
I did consider playing Nadia in the SEF system but didnt think I could get a Russian doctor/ Assasin past JD. If only, Im sure the team would be a laugh...
Me, Ryan, Dom... Chris (hmm.. maybe not so good in tights) _________________ Force field Kitty.....

Hmm, seeing the Russian stargate team put to life in larp could be histerical & severely dangerous at the same time considering I'm prity sure most members have some form of psychological issues, there's a sociopath, psychopath, schizophrenic, pyromaniac is probebly there somewhere & the list goes on & on.
Also let's not forget they they go in with sod all & leave with anything that's not nailed down.............then unnail anything that is nailed down by any means possible.
