Pure Mathematics: the study of number, algebra, geometry, statistics
Errm, anyone want to own up to having this skill, or anyone having seen it used?
i have dim recollections of event 1 it may have been used.
I am all for the veteran flavour skills and this may well end up there to be honest. What do you think?
Anyone got any Ideas how we can turn this into a useful functional skill? _________________ Acting Lt. Col James Bryant

| The only way I can see this being useful is as a pre-requisite for other skills. Otherwise its usually covered by that 0 point skill 'Bullshit' |

Steve has it as Waterhouse. It proved bloody useful at the Christmas event as it does lead to all sorts of other stuff. _________________ Former CMO..

Thats one vote for keeping it in. Still i would be tempted to chuck it to a veteran skill and give steve something else as well _________________ Acting Lt. Col James Bryant

I have not played Stargate for ages (since Event 4 I think where I found myslef on the recieving end of an alien tentacle and in need of a Proctologist... I try to blank the memories...) and when I did play I wasn't playing an academic however I wonder exactly how pokey 'Flash of Insight' really is? I mean, from reading the description it doesn't sound too game breaking however I hold my hands up as I don't really know what I'm talking about.
Recently I have gotten into watching the TV programme 'NUMB3RS' where math gets used to sove just about everything and this got me thinking that perhaps you could allow 'Flash of Insight' to be used in more circumstances? This would reflect the concept that a trained and gifted mathematician could break basically any problem back to a mathematical construction. (With the necessry associated random calulations/equations/working out etc on white boards/blackboards/paper/computer screens)
Just a thought... I like the idea of playing a mathematician so it would be a skill that I would take. |

Send a message to "Duncan Waterhouse" who is currently the person who uses Pure Maths the most - and yes playing someone like Professor Epps from Numb3rs is the ideal use of the skill. _________________

Learning Pure Maths for accountancy - that`s Dark Magic that is. That's because the Devil's lawyers have advised he can't afford to
