Anyone else caught this?

I watched the first ep on sunday and was just stunned.  I'd hoped it would be good, but it went far beyond my expectations.  Sort of Band of Brothers meets Jarhead.

Oh, and I suspect highly quotable for any military/paramilitary game environment..

I watched it downloaded from the US last year - it's really good.

Missed it because everyone seemed to be starting all their new series on Sunday and we don't have a recorder, but hoping to get to see it by one means or another.  I haven't seen a bad word said against it so far.

it should be said that its based on true events but has been written in movie speak

try watching ross kemp when he returns to aganistan less movie speak, more real life

As Generation Kill is on the FX channel they have the habit of showing new series at a later time in midweek and having a catch up weekend three or four episodes into a new series, which they did with Burn Notice and NCIS.

So anyone who missed it should get a second chance to see it pretty soon Very Happy.

As for the Ross Kemp return to Afghanistan its a must see in Feb

They haven't exactly made a secret of the fact.

It does remind me a lot of  Chris Ayres' War Reporting for Cowards that I read a couple of years ago.

As for real life, I still remember Sandy Gaul's reports from Afghanistan in the eighties.  Behind the lines with the Muj.  Funny how things change.

Just finished the book.  Very good read and highly recommended.  A highly visceral account.
